Toinét earned a PhD in Health Science from North-West University, South Africa, focusing on DNA methylation as a mediator between urbanization and cardiometabolic disease. Her pre-doctoral training included a BSc in Health Science (Psychology and Nutrition) and an MSc in Health Science (Nutrition) from the same university. She spent three years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Copenhagen, working with proteomic data as disease biomarkers, and later shifted to drug target Mendelian randomization in both academic and industry roles. Alongside her work at Sequoia Genetics, Toinét is a Research Associate at the MRC Biostatistics Unit, University of Cambridge, focusing on drug target Mendelian randomization for psychiatric disorders. 

At Sequoia Genetics, Toinét specializes in multi-omics data analysis, engaging with clients, developing analytical proposals, integrating data, and delivering insights to stakeholders.
