Stephen Burgess is a Professor at the University of Cambridge and the Lead Statistician at Sequoia Genetics. He earned his BA and MMath from University Cambridge and completed a PhD at the MRC Biostatistics Unit, focusing on Mendelian randomization. After joining the Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit in 2011, Stephen received a Wellcome Trust fellowship to continue his work. He later moved to the MRC Biostatistics Unit with a Sir Henry Dale Fellowship and established a research group, where he now leads a team. Recognised as a Highly Cited Researcher since 2019, Stephen has published over 380 papers and is co-chair of the European Causal Inference Meeting. He also leads courses at the University of Cambridge on Mendelian randomization and Genetics in Drug Development.
