Dr William Beckman
PhD
Senior Scientist

Will is a computational biologist and bioinformatician with more than ten years’ experience in large-scale multi-omics analysis, statistical modelling, and reproducible pipeline development for next-generation sequencing data. He completed his PhD as a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Amsterdam, where his work focused on transcriptional regulation, transcription bursting, and epigenetic plasticity using nascent transcriptomics, single-cell approaches, and mathematical modelling. He also holds an MRes in Systems and Synthetic Biology and a BSc in Biology from Imperial College London.
Before joining Sequoia Genetics, Will was a Research Associate at the University of Cambridge’s Stem Cell Institute. There, he led integrated experimental and computational analyses across ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, CUT&RUN, CUT&Tag, and single-cell RNA-seq to study gene regulation in neurogenesis. His work spanned experimental design, high-performance computing, statistical analysis, and biological interpretation, resulting in multiple peer-reviewed publications, including highlighted research in Development.
At Sequoia Genetics, Will is a Senior Scientist contributing deep expertise in functional genomics, multi-omics integration, and computational analysis. He supports the delivery of complex projects where molecular and genetic data are translated into robust evidence to guide drug discovery and development decisions.
